Evaluation
We are project and evaluation specialists. Jeff Coutts leads the post-graduate course in Evaluation of Programs and Projects at the University of Queensland. Coutts J&R Pty Ltd has undertaken a number of significant national evaluations and are leaders in the evaluation of extension and education projects.
Specific services we offer include:
- Developing evaluation frameworks for programs and projects: We work with project management and teams to develop log frames and evaluation plans to ensure that the needed evaluation information is captured, analysed and used for decision-making and reporting.
- Managing and undertaking monitoring and evaluation throughout the life of a project: We work with project management and teams to coordinate and participate in the collection and analysis of evaluation information as the project is being implemented. This includes: ensuring that on-going reporting complements evaluation needs; facilitating feedback and reflection sessions for management, teams and participants; undertaking extra surveys, focus groups, interviews as needed and seeking relevant industry/societal statistics and tends as relevant.
- Specific one-off evaluation tasks: We design and/or undertake evaluation tasks as needed including: surveys (phone, e-mail, mail, web, face-to-face); focus groups; interviews; desktop analysis; cost-benefit analysis; participant observation, workshops and others. We also mentor teams who are developing these instruments for their own use.
- Training in evaluation: We provide training in evaluation - and specific evaluation tools (eg focus groups, survey design) - for individuals, teams and organisations on request. Some of this is undertaken in concert with the Centre for Rural and Regional Innovation, University of Queensland Gatton.
